Improvisation
Quality
in your performance is a challenge to maintain with consistency so
you will be encouraged to explore and develop a working foundation
for yourself. Sessions will look at ways to let go of fear and to
open the way to spontaneity and adventure. Exercises will be introduced
to encourage you to develop confidence when faced with the unpredictability
and challenge of improvisation and live performance. This strand will
also help you find ways to make the most out of exploratory impro
and rehearsals, building confidence through your own progress.

Exploratory
impro
Exploring circumstances, character development, character relationships
and dynamics in character and scene work.

|
Text
You
will be given the opportunity to explore poetry and classical and
modern drama, in order to discover the relevance of metre, rhythm,
line endings and punctuation, and the relationship of these to breath
and your emotional responses.
|
Voice
We will
explore how a concept, written poetry or dramatic text can be brought
to life
through you.
Pitch, placement, range and tone will be examined in isolation, as well
as in the context of text, speech, and abstract applications of the
voice. You will be encouraged to examine the difference between your
true voice and established habits, and will explore the connection between
your body and your voice - the natural links between your breath, your
thought, and the overall idea you are expressing. |

|
Movement
Relaxation and pure movement will be explored to distinguish natural
posture and physical dynamics from habits formed by acquired tension.
This will become integrated with voice work to examine the connections
between vocal and physical expression. This exploration can help enhance
your mental agility and capacity for expressive release by stretching
your physical range of expression. The aim of the combined vocal and
physical work is to re-sensitise your vocal and physical capacity
to reflect inner truth and character - applicable to real life and
vital for actors.
