3-Year Professional Acting Course:
"Before coming to Actors Space I knew that I wanted
nothing more then to act, but I had no idea how to go about getting
into this very demanding and competitive profession. From my very
first lesson I was reassured that each lesson would focus solely and
wholeheartedly to me and my needs. It began with a long friendly chat
over the phone about my experience, what I wanted to work on and what
I wanted to achieve. So instantly I knew that I was being treated
as an individual, not another struggling student who is going to be
given the standard text book training. The approach is unlike any
other tuition I have received, it is an extremely open and relaxed
atmosphere, where I felt at ease to say, ‘Today I want to work
on this’ and immediately the lesson would be structured around
that particular area. What was enjoyable about the lessons was the
fact that each was different, no matter what the subject, be it from
tackling Shakespeare text to improvisation, every exercise given was
a new challenge. I was constantly being pushed and made to think on
my feet, this dynamic way of learning was incredibly beneficial and
gave me the confidence to act instinctively and with conviction. I
was never told how to do something but given the opportunity to explore
and find my own individual approach. Nothing was ever right or wrong
and if any criticism was given it was done so constructively and with
alternative suggestions on how to address the situation. Not only
does Actors Space provide a solid and inspiring way of teaching but
they helped me to focus on what I wanted and how to get there. They
encouraged me to apply for all the leading drama colleges and after
many gruelling and nerve racking auditions I was accepted onto the
three year acting course at LAMDA. I would never be in this position
today if it were not for the excellent training and advice I gained
at the Actor’s Space, but of all the skills and lessons learned,
the most crucial was that of ‘Believing in yourself’.
For not one second was I ever allowed to doubt myself or my ability,
and that, is what ultimately led me to filling in the application
forms, going to the auditions and getting my place at LAMDA."
